Description
Remember The Queen’s Beasts 2 oz silver coin series? The are ten heraldic creatures symbolizing the royal ancestry of Elizabeth II, the much-loved monarch and mother of His Majesty King Charles III.
In 1953, ten statues of The Queen’s Beasts stood guard outside Westminster Abbey as the world watched the coronation of the United Kingdom’s new queen. In recent years, The Queen’s Beasts were reimagined in a series of ten-coin designs by the celebrated coin designer Jody Clark. To honour the life and legacy of Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history, The Royal Mint has now brought all ten of The Queen’s Beasts together again to feature on a new square bullion bar range. The design also includes Mary Gillick’s elegant coinage portrait of the young queen at its centre.
The Ten Beasts that formed the collection are:
The Lion of England
The Griffin of Edward III
The Falcon of the Plantagenet’s
The Black Bull of Clarence
The Yale of Beaufort
The White Lion of Mortimer
The White Greyhound of Richmond
The Red Dragon of Wales
The Unicorn of Scotland
The White Horse of Hanover
